Move Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic is situated in the local GP surgery in Chinley, High Peak. Ruth has over 30 years experience in physiotherapy and sports injuries, including 9 years as a physiotherapist for the Leicester Tigers rugby team.
Nic joined the team as our Sports Massage Therapist. We have developed a unique approach, blending and integrating our combined skills for the benefit of our clients. Between us, we are experienced in treating a wide cross section of society including amateur and professional sports people, older people with mobility issues, children and those with post-illness and injury requirements.
Physiotherapy involves the taking of a thorough history of a person's symptoms, followed by a physical examination which includes checking the range of movement and specific tests to establish the cause of pain. We then provide a holistic approach to client' s needs. This goes beyond treating the immediate symptoms by getting to and addressing the root of individual problems, treating the whole individual and getting people moving to their full potential. This is achieved through a variety of hands on techniques to improve the function and movement of joints and soft tissue, accompanied by a manageable and achievable exercise programme tailored for each individual.
Sports Massage and deep tissue therapy is not just for people who play sport or go the gym. Anyone with a physically demanding job or who are stood on their feet all day for example, can reap huge benefits from regular Sports Massage and Stretching. We often find a combination of sports massage and acupuncture is extremely beneficial for many of our clients. Ruth can initially help fix you and then Nic can help maintain your flexibility and range of movement. Sports Massage is not just exclusively for those times when you have an injury either. If had regularly, it can help to prevent new injuries and keep those recurring injuries at bay by keeping you flexible and supple.
Ruth is registered with both the Health and Care Professions Council and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Nic is registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists. (More)
